Man’s Best Friend

Before I get back to my crazy job world, I went home to Laguna to spend time with my family. Aside from seeing my siblings and parents, I look forward seeing my (our) dog, Chichay. I met her as a puppy and I am glad that even though I don’t go home as often as I would , she stills remember me.

She is even calm with my husband now. I wish I could have a dog in QC but I can’t.

Just the other day we lost Alex, our five year old Shih Tzu, my sister told me he had his last cry before they found him cold and dead. Losing a pet is like losing a family.

Dogs are gifts, they are the best thing that could happen to you. Do you have a dog? Love them because they love you more than their bark could express.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

New from Coffee Bean: Pure Hazelnut Drink

I’ve been in and out of Coffee Bean for our event last Saturday and during our final meeting, their store manager, Corrine let me try their newest drink. It is the Ice Blend Non-Coffee Pure Hazelnut Drink.

At first sip, I have forgotten my name. If you love nutella you will surely love this one too. If I am correct they have a coffee version too. This drink is now one of my guilty pleasures.

Open Letter: Bye, Nang

“Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace.”—Oscar Wilde, The Canterville Ghost

Nang,

I am sorry cannot look at you lying in your wooden bed when we heard the sad news, I don’t want to see you like that. I also do not want to see the final moment you’ll be above the earth  and be buried six feet under. The idea of it breaks my heart as I try to act like I am not affected at all. I only want the last smile you did when you said I gained more weight, but still beautuful. I held your hand and complained that I did not.

We always had that moment. You are my husband’s second mom. For a while I thought you hated me as I took him away from you. I remember not going to the house when you scolded us for being too touchy with each other. You said we are still studying.

Years passed, maybe you got used to me. We spent time in the kitchen cooking cause you said your hands were not stable anymore and you easily get tired.

Every afternoon of any weekend, we would hang out in the dining area where we talk about Kuya and his girl friends. You said I am your favorite as I know some household chores.

Every night when we arrive from work, and if Nomar doesn’t like the dinner, you would leave your teleserye and cook his lumpiang shanghai. You would call me instead and ask me finish cooking cause you told me I should be the one doing it for him now.

Every morning, you will wake up earlier than anyone else, I would be awaken by the smell of coffee. You prepared it for us with matching hot water for our bath.

Every chance that you could talk to me regarding their childhood, you’ll do it again and again.

How Nomar cried when you left him at school, his first scar, his matching socks, his being picky for food, and other memories with the family.

Plus your emphasis on how “gwapo” Nomar is.

These things flashed back when I saw Nomar in your wake holding back his tears.

Nang, hindi naiyak yan! Kahit nung kasal namin hindi umiyak yan. Sayang nga wala ka dun.

Well, I would like to think that your mission on earth is over. The four of them became loving adults. Without your assistance when their parents are at work, I can’t imagine…

As much as we want to produce the little Nomar every one else wants, huwag kang mag alala Nang, I will introduce you to them.

I hope you are happy where you are now. We love you.

Rest in peace.

First time to try AIRBNB

Stunning 37th floor view

My last early event went nuts when my team arrived late at the venue. Of course, you cannot blame the lack of sleep and heavy traffic because you’re the one who needs to adjust. So for the next event, we decided to book a place to stay so we won’t be late again. Looking around BGC, hotels could be really expensive, so I tried my luck on airbnb.com.

I’ve seen my friends chose airbnb and my former head do have his own listing too, so I give it a shot.

Since his unit was not available, we searched for another and we found one on Mckinley Parkway (click the link for the airbnb listing). We were thrilled when we saw the place, it was so cozy and complete with amenities. When we say amenities, it is more than the amenities of some five-star suites in the metro.

Aside from the appliances, the bathroom is pretty much stuffed with the toiletries you will need.

They even have some perfume testers which guests can enjoy.

We checked in around 5pm then went back to work, our office was in the 34th street, in  BGC you can walk to place, but that was far. lol

We went to Mercato for dinner.

We could have stayed over the weekend to rest, but hey, I am a newly wed gal and I must go home. haha

I will definitely use airbnnb again for future travels.

Uptown Cinema Experience

Work is crazy as usual. As the meme would say it “Akala ko magaling na ako… Marunong lang pala” (I thought I am good but I just know how to do it). There is always a room for improvement. I would not regret every second of my work day as it leads to something greater. New lessons every sunrise. With a mantra from my grand mom “for greater glory of God”, I know things would better.

Anyway, I finally tried Uptown Mall Cinema (VIP) in BGC. We tried booking on the spot for XMEN apocalypse before, but unfortunately, you need to reserve ahead of time. This time for the Secret Life of Pets, we experienced the luxurious free flowing popcorn and drinks (insert lazy boy too). I loved the experience, I would watch all blockbuster movies there from now on. It is super near the office too.

Here are some photos:

The price is PHP500, if you will book online there is a convenience fee of PHP20. Three different popcorn flavors to choose from – cheese, barbecye, sour crewm. You can change your flavor every refill, same goes with your drinks (Coca-Cola products). There is a button which you can press to call the attention of the movie house attendant if you need anything.

The chairs are positioned by two’s; ample distance to have privacy. Not suitable for odd numbers though, because the third wheel will be left out.

I recommend watching your much anticipated movie here. It is worth the price.

I only had one 500 ml soda and one refill of popcorn.

Have you tried watching a movie here? You should.
