Blogging at Infinite.ly

I am no longer new when it comes to writing blog contents. I am maintaining two blog sites now and so far, so good.

I am working with wordpress.com for this blog and wordpress.org for my beauty blog. I notice their difference and find .com more easy to use, as .org requires more knowledge in web developing.

I was then introduce to infinite.ly website builder and of course as an aspiring blogger I gave it a try.

So I started by signing up and I was given three choices – Free, Small Biz, and Professional.

For the Free category you will have the following:

  • 5 MB Storage
  • Access to core widgets
  • No Facebook Page Tab
  • Personalized Sub Domain

For the Professional Category at P140/month:

  • 50 MB Storage
  • Access to all widgets
  • Custom Facebook Page Tab
  • Use your own custom domain name

For the Small Biz Category at P1,600/year

  • 50 MB Storage
  • Access to all widgets
  • Custom Facebook Page Tab
  • Free Custom domain name

infinite

Above is the screenshot of the Web Page Builder. I chose the blogger template but there are other templates available to choose from. If you want to build a portfolio website, a restaurant, a school, and others. Or you can have a free layout and you can do whatever design you like.

After choosing the template you will be redirected to the site editing page. You will see on the left the different elements you can add to your page. You can add the following:

  • Text
  • Logo
  • Rectangle
  • Circle
  • Blog Section
  • video
  • Stream
  • Contact Form
  • Sign Up Form
  • PayPal Donation
  • Links
  • Share
  • Facebook Comments
  • Map
  • Custom HTML

You can edit the background and add pages as you go along. You can also upload your favicon, Google analytics account, and meta date keywords.

From the site builder page also, you can view your messages, visitors, and customers (if applicable)

From a point of view of a novice blogger, the design and layout of the site is easily navigated. I can just drag and change the layout and you can see the change immediately.

You can publish it right away in the world wide web as well as in mobile devices.

My Parallel Plesk builder has the same specifications and features with infinite.ly and I have the same problem.

It is the Blog Section. It is easier if you post content remotely, where you do not have to open the site builder to update a post. You don’t manually post excerpt at the homepage too.

I think it will be better if site builder has content management feature as well. Sometimes it is a headache to be the only one technical person in maintaining a website and you will get crazy seeing all the text frames in the edit page.

Overall, this infinite.ly is great and can make noise in the hosting industry. I just wish they will offer higher disk space as most of us upload a lot of photos.

I shall continue navigating my newly built blog and update you guys soon.

PCTA CONVENTION 2013: DIGITAL NOW!

Digital Now Approved

When I wanted to make a new year blog, I scrapped the idea simply because my January is not actually a new year. It’s my cramming month though this will be my fourth time to organize the biggest cable television event in the Philippines, the experience is always new.

I am now finalizing the details for the exhibition and party as the rest of the team fine tunes the conference line up.

Through this job I learned a lot about the industry which I will be sharing today.

It’s awkward to read something “informational” from someone who writes about food and beauty. LOL

Digital Terrestrial Television Migration on 2015
>
The reason why the association is convincing small/medium cable operators in the province is because of this migration. When the broadcast (free TV) migrates to digital it will give free to air networks to broadcast more content.

It’s like having more Studio 23 or GMA News TV in your free TV. People will no longer pay for the service and the business will be affected.

The more, the merrier
>
Being digital gives you the opportunity to offer more contents. The illegal connection problems will vanished and you can have more diverse packages for the subscribers.

You have Channel Ala Carte, movie packages, sport packages, low budget packages, and more.

Even value added services like video on demand, Cable internet, over the top, and TV everywhere is possible on a digital platform

The financial side
>
Most of the Cable Operators are afraid to go digital because the infrastructure is expensive. Yes it is BUT it is a lifetime achievement and in no time you will profit.

Being a business man means you are a risk taker.

Some would say that they only have few subscriber and there are another cable operator nearby. The do not want the Super headend idea because most of these are family business they do not want dealing with other people.

Greedily thinking, they can divide the cost of the programs and they can have programs that are not present to their system.

Of course I am just speaking as a lame audience stakeholders know better.

Direct to home versus Cable
>
This is so far the most unhealthy competition I’ve ever seen simply because the other party have funds to advertise and sensationalizing their services without knowing that when it rains the signal is disrupted. LOL

This technology should be improved and since players are getting pissed off already they are coming up with their own which made me very excited because I can have pay-tv at home.

(I work in a cable association and yet I don’t have cable, I suck)

These are some of the points that will be discussed in March so I am inviting everyone across the globe to see the Philippine’s biggest Cable Television event and meet me there. I will be running around the SMX Convention Center to address your needs and to make sure that the event will run smoothly.

For international suppliers and content providers out there you better join PCTA because if you want to meet all the cable operators in the Philippines you can meet them all here in the event.

Sounds hard sell isn’t it?

You may check photos on Facebook to see and believe.

Need to get back to work. Winking smile

Bring your Newspaper anywhere using Press Reader

2013-01-05_01-37-17

I have been using a smart phone for a year now and I liked how it made my life easier and less boring. Although I the battery drains very fast especially if your data connection is turned on electricity is accessible so charging is easy. I just hope my battery will not explode from too much charging.

Today I am reviewing a mobile application that will wow readers. Or at least someone like me who loves to read. I am talking about Press Reader.

Description (from Google Play)

Over 2,100 full-content newspapers from 95 countries in 54 languages in just one app!

With its high-definition PDF rendering engine and Smart Flow “intelligent” horizontal news presentation, Press Reader provides Android users with the most immersive and rewarding way to experience the world’s best press.

★ “The Press Reader app from Newspaper Direct is second-to-none for newspaper reading.” Gregg Ellman, Technology Columnist for McClatchy/Tribune

If you’re looking for the ultimate reading experience for your favorite newspapers and magazines, then you have to try Press Reader 4.0. When I installed it the main page showed local broadsheets and tabloid.

2013-01-05_01-39-32

For English broadsheets the on demand audio is working. This is very good if you are on the road as reading in gadgets while in motion is not a good idea. I like that I will learn about the right pronunciation. It’s like I am listening to CNN but the news are all local.

As for Tagalog/Filipino tabloids the audio is not available. Since my screen is small I really cannot enjoy  reading without zooming it. If you have at least 3” above screens this very suitable.

You need to download the newspaper first before you can navigate it. The selection refreshes everyday. Once you have downloaded your chosen newspaper you can do back reads even without internet connection.

You can also check out other countries newspaper too.

2013-01-05_01-50-42

This will be very educational for everyone.

If you want to read all the papers for today you have to download everything.

This requires registration and/or fee in the future. The trial account is good for three months only.

If you are someone whose work is related to various newspaper or you will spend dimes for your hobby, I will recommend this app.

This is sometimes pre-installed in your devices unlike for my Android GingerBread it is not.

Has anyone downloaded or have it pre installed in their devices?

I am very curious to know.

Eden Bloggers Program

Overview
EdenFantasys’ Eden Bloggers program provides bloggers with the unique opportunity to earn gift cards to our website in exchange for blog posts about us. We often refer to these posts as testimonials, as they are too casual and freeform to be classified as reviews (however, you are free to write a review of a product for the program). Eden Bloggers is a popular choice with many family-oriented and product review bloggers, because we allow bloggers to be creative with the type of content they post about us, and do not require any explicit content or keywords. Check out our Twitter stream,
@EdenBloggers, to see links to blog posts that bloggers have written for us.
How it works
In exchange for a positive blog post about EdenFantasys, we will compensate you with a $25 gift card (the gift card will be delivered via email), though sometimes the gift card may be higher (determining factors include blog age, content, Google PageRank, Alexa ranking, traffic, blog/social network followers, and audience demographics).
Approved bloggers may write a blog post about EdenFantasys as often as once every four weeks, and receive a gift card as compensation for every approved post. But there is no expectation as to how many posts you write for us – write 1, 5, or 25 (just make sure that they’re at least four weeks apart)!
Blog requirements
In order to qualify for Eden Bloggers, you must have an established, active blog that is at least two months of age and is publicly accessible. Your blog should be updated regularly, with no more than a 2-3 weeks between blog entries. We do respect and expect disclosure policies; however at this time we are primarily working with blogs that utilize site-wide disclosures rather than per-post (individual) disclosures.
Please note that we are unable to work with blogs that are hosted on WordPress.com (example: http://yourblogname.wordpress.com), due to WordPress.com’s regulations regarding adult/affiliate links. Tumblr blogs are only accepted if you have 500 or more followers, and/or a Google PageRank of 1 or higher.
Post requirements
* 200 or more words
* A minimum of 2 text links to edenfantasys.com
* You may use your partner code within links (for affiliate earnings), but the first 1-2 links in your post should not contain your partner code
* Optional: include a
banner for an additional $5 (make sure that the link does not contain your partner code)
* All links without a partner code must be marked as dofollow
* All links with a partner code (including banners) must be marked as nofollow
* Content should be relevant to EdenFantasys and positive in nature
* Content must be unique (no copied content from our website, other online sources, or previous blog entries)
* Post must be for the current date (no back-dating of posts)
* Post must be permanent (it should be accessible via the provided URL for as long as your blog is active)
Suggested blogging topics
You can write a post that introduces EdenFantasys to your readers; or a post that highlights products you’d like to own, or perhaps already own. Some ideas for posts include:
EdenFantasys’ current promotions; recent additions to our shop; romance & intimacy and romantic/sensual items; improving relationships and sex after children or other big life changes; your favorite sex toys; bath/body/makeup products; our lingerie/bras/club wear, etc.
Join
To join Eden Bloggers, email ambassador@edenfantasys.com with your name, email address and blog URL. You will receive a detailed response with further information within 2 business days.

They will send blogging ideas every now and then and you’ll have a gift card to spent, then you will buy items which you will review (not mandatory at all) and receive another gift card.

Since I have a beauty blog I spent then review the products from their Bath & Beauty. I am contented because the package arrived here without any problems.

Please do not be shocked when you visited their homepage (as those are taboos for my country or maybe for my local society) haha but for those who has blogs that can cater for other stuff they sell I recommend you to be an ambassador. Thumbs up

What do you think of this post? Do you like me sharing blogging tips, tricks, opportunities and more? Let me know I have a lot of ideas.

I am not a pro though I just observe and analyze my cyber community and hoping it will work for us. Smile

Discover the new Twitter

Last night I was cleaning my inbox and received a newsletter from twitter announcing its new features.

Just this morning I gave it a try. They made few changes in your profiles. This how my twitter look now.

new twitter

If you remember the first change months ago was they moved the sidebar from left to right and some icons. I found the new GUI more attracting.

Today they offer header for your profile page as well as new photo reel.

In the header you can upload an image 1200×600 pixels up to 5MB. What I like about it is that I can reposition the photo in all directions (I am comparing it to the Facebook cover photo) and I can zoom in/zoom out the photo.

I decided to use my beauty website’s logo for my header for promotion purposes.

Overlaying with the new header is your display photo, Name, Twitter Username, and your short bio.

I am liking the vibe of the new twitter. Are you too?

Let me know what you think below.
