Movie Date: Marvel’s: The Avengers

30 Apr

I don’t have any clue about The Avengers but I know the heroes individually as I have watched them one by one last year. As I get familiar with each character and I was stunned along the way.

Before my story, I would like to thank my good friends from CPI (Creative Programs, Inc.) for extending the privilege to me. The blocked screening yesterday, April 26, was sponsored by Chalk and Myx Philippines.

Going back to my Marvel adventure. I meet Captain America in a family computer game, I never thought Chris Evans would play the role that hot and I drool over him. LOL (I was laughing hilariously when he keeps on running using his shield and the others are using their super powers)

Although not in this movie but also an Avenger, Spiderman, I have no childhood memory about him, the upside down kiss with Kristen Dunst was stamped in my memory, undeniably family movie. New version of movie is coming out I think this year.

Iron Man, which I am very fascinated about because he is a genius. The technology is exceptional. I love Tony Stark. I watched Iron Man 1 & 2 in big screen. I wish all computers would run like his. He was very funny in the movie too.

Incredible Hulk (Mark Buffalo), ooh I saw him in cartoons but I do not know the story behind why he turns green when his angry. I saw the remake on a bus TV on my way home. (Talk about cheap movie huh?)

The rest of the gang: Thor, Hawk Eye, and Black Widow. Chris Hesworth is hot but I don’t have an eye for long hair. Hawk Eye, Jeremy Rener very appealing (which made me wanna watch the latest Bourne that was shot here). Black Widow, Scarlet Johansson, is always drop dead gorgeous.

I didn’t read the comics during my childhood and I didn’t play any arcade games related to them (except for Capt. America of course) but this movie is a jaw dropper for me.

This is my second fave after Transformers (I would not trade Bumblebee to anyone else). As for the story, go watch it. It’s worth every penny.

Until my next movie date,

Sammy

Lourd de Veyra\\\\\\\’s graduation speech for UP MassComm Batch 2012 – InterAksyon.com.

Maybe this is trending right now, I like the speech very much. The link was just pasted to my chat box for me to read. I like Lourd as I find him really funny whenever I watch the “Word of the Lourd” on Sapul sa Singko (now Good Morning Club). I wish I have heard it three years ago (am still in the midst of my career crisis I wish I could figure out what I wanna do in my life sooner, LOL melodramatic)

Just read his entire speech guys.

Wherever school you are, Congratulations MassComm Class 2012.

MassComm rocks. \m/

Home Page Error :(

24 Apr

I am not sure if this one will appear in my home page but I am not sure what’s happening with my wordpress recent posts won’t show :( HELP.
Just to update you guys I am still constructing my other site, I am also having problems with Parallel Plesk 10, I can’t incorporate a blogging tool so that blogging will be easy. Making the page layout and design via Website Builder presence is easy but I need some elements to add in my homepage (Archives, recent post, recent comments) just like the widgets I have in wordpress.
Should I be frustrated now? I should not. I actually proud of myself because I am doing it alone (of course with some help coming from hubby and encouragement from Momi Jes) *sigh*
I am hoping to fix everything before the month ends.
Any geek out there that is willing to help me? Will appreciate that!
xoxo,
Sammy

A cup of coffee

22 Apr

I am ecstatic to share my experience about the first bloggers meet up I attended last Friday and what convinced me to go under time for work? It’s about coffee. You know I am an avid fan of coffee; I have tried out coffee shops now and then. Plus my boss taught me how to enjoy it black every after meal.

But this post is not about me. Aside from my experience I would also like to share my learning about our homegrown coffee shop. You read it right, homegrown. I know we were used to internationally known shops that offer variety of coffees. But we didn’t know that we have people who come up with their own name even before other players came in.

Actually this is just my second time to visit the shop. My first time was when I was feeling so cold and I know I needed a coffee. I am talking about Bo’s Coffee.

Humble Beginnings

Bo’s Coffee started way back in 1996 in a six table kiosk in Cebu. The store name came from the owner’s mentor who taught him everything about coffee (I thought it was owned by a religious figure, LOL). It started as a family business and eventually nurtured to be a successful corporation.

One thing that caught my attention was their undertaking when it comes to delivering good coffee. They value freshness; they strictly follow standards to make the coffee taste just right – not too bitter and not too bland. They served the coffee with conviction that the beans are “Just Roasted”.

I was also amazed to know that their founder is still hands-on with their product development. Did I mention that they get their coffee beans here? They support local our farmers, they get their Arabica beans up north (Sagada, Benguet, Mt. Province, and the like); and Robusta from the South (Batangas and Cavite).

They have developed a mutual relationship with the farmers so that they can pass the beverage to us in a reasonable cost.

Let’s go to Products

Here’s their featured beverage for the summer – Biscotti Amaretto.

Biscotti Amaretto and Super moist chocolate cake.

If you are experimental when it comes to blended coffee drinks this is a must try. You will taste… (Let my taste buds do the reminiscing) 75% coffee, a cherry flavor coming from the Amaretto (it’s non alcoholic mind you), and the nutty taste of Biscotti.

They have featured beverages (try their white chocolate and the Oreo blended drinks) during special occasions like Valentine’s and Christmas.

But coffee shops just don’t sell coffee right? Of course we want to have pambara or pastries (try their moist chocolate cakes and cheesecakes) and sandwiches. Bo’s Coffee has their own commissary and like the “Just Roasted” that comes along with the coffee the pastries are served with “Just Baked”. How cool is that?

Some stores have kitchen and they serve breakfast (pancakes and sandwiches) and even pastas. They have pandesal too, very local indeed.

Stores and their growth

They have 56 stores nationwide; 17 in Metro Manila and 2 outside Metro Manila (Sta. Rosa, Laguna and Tagaytay).

They recently opened their 56th store in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. If you guys have been in Nuvali the place is very cozy – combination of the city living and nature. You will definitely enjoy the breeze while sipping a good cup of brewed coffee.

If I was listening intently, the Nuvali branch was different from the other stores when it comes to interior. They have this mixed art mural visualizing landmarks and they incorporated colors already.

They are celebrating their 16th year in the business. Congratulations!

And just like my favorite line when it comes to coffee….

If all commercial shops are crowded, try something new, try Bo’s.

Read the book first then watch the movie or vice versa? : The Lucky One a novel by Nicholas Sparks

21 Apr

I got the book from a colleague last Christmas when I shouted that I want a new book. I finished reading it last January 2. I soon heard the news that it’s coming in theaters in April (April 19 to be exact) I was so excited to see the movie because I want to compare whether it will be the same as it is in the book.

Last April 17 friends from Powerbundles (Creative Programs, Inc.) gave a premiere night pass. Woohooo courtesy of Lifestyle Network.

Starring Zac Efron (Logan Thighbault) and Taylor Schilling (Beth Green); of course the movie didn’t started like the book did. The visuals made it more understandable. The flash backs were clear and the whole story was easy to follow.

The movie is about a photo found in the desert after a war in Iraq and Logan thought that Beth is his lucky charm, he should find Beth and thank her.

I am quite confuse now because I don’t know if I’d liked it or not. I like the whole story though.

Is it because I read the book that is why I understood it? I have anticipated every scene.

The ending was twisted (sorry if I am going to spoil some clips). Zeus (the dog) did find Ben not Keith. Haha

It was a feel good movie after all. I do not want to go on details about the movie because some of you might have not seen it yet.

A lot of books were made movie after being a best seller.

So I am leaving you guys a question…

Do you prefer reading the book first then watch the movie or vice versa?

Xoxo,

Sammy
